Integral Yoga

Actually there are two types of Integral Yoga that should not be confused - Sri Aurobindo's Integral Yoga and the trademark "Integral Yoga" of Swami Satchidananda. Sri Aurobindo was amongst others an Indian yogi and guru who imparted his knowledge in Pondicherry. Until today you find there his Ashram named Sri Aurobindo. Swami Satchidananda formed his style in the second half of the 20. Century and made it very popular in the United States. He was the man who taught the crowds to chant “Om” at the famous Woodstock Festival. Integral Yoga is a flexible combination of various yoga branches which permit a harmonious development of all aspects of the individual: intellectual, spiritual and physical. This can be reached by classes that set value on pranayama, meditation and postures. Swami Satchidananada says that "the goal of Integral Yoga, and the birthright of every individual, is to realize the spiritual unity behind all the diversities in the entire creation and to live harmoniously as members of one universal family.” If you want to know Integral Yoga or immerse totally into it there is no better way than yoga retreats. There you can totally concentrate on the practice and enjoy the spiritual atmosphere of the surrounding.
